MANA SOCIAL

MANA Wynwood is a thirty acre campus of arts and event spaces in Miami, located at and around the Wynwood Convention Center.

Shenton Architects was commissioned to adapt a disused two story warehouse near the convention center, to house MANA Social - a members club bringing together leaders from the arts, sciences, technology, and other creative entrepreneurial sectors.

The program is focused around three key elements; the entrepreneurs club, a members hotel and associated conference/ presentation facilities. The hotel is to have 39 rooms, along with two bars, a rooftop restaurant, spa and fitness facilities.

The site is bounded on three sides by streets. These urban facades are clad with vertical slats to provide a screen through which an array of windows are punched for the hotel rooms. The slat screen will act as a canvas for large format art installations commissioned by MANA specifically for this facility.

The fourth elevation faces a private courtyard and swimming pool. This facade is largely glazed to allow a multi-story special exhibition space (or “Hub”) to engage with the courtyard and street scene adjacent.

The interior is organized around a four story atrium that changes orientation on each level. At the First Floor the atrium draws members and visitors through the lobby towards an open auditorium, and up into a cafe under the belly of the Hub.
